Who Wins and Who Loses From a TikTok Ban

It’s not just Meta Platforms, Snap and Google’s YouTube that stand to benefit if TikTok shutters in the U.S. as a result of Friday’s Supreme Court decision upholding the ban-or-sell law against the Chinese-owned app. Several small social and video apps, including Flip, Clapper and Whatnot, could also come out ahead.

Meanwhile, losers include logistics startups which work with TikTok Shop sellers, such as ShipBob and ShipHero, along with advertisers which have benefited from TikTok’s lower cost of advertising and ability to reach mass audiences. Also losing out will be consumer product brands that rely on TikTok’s shopping service, TikTok Shop, such as Goli Nutrition supplements and Simply Mandys.
