Trump’s big post-election interview

How will President Trump spin his party’s midterm meltdown and make sense of his lame duck status? (Can he?) We’ll find out on Sunday’s “60 Minutes.”

CBS News correspondent Ross Douthat is at the White House taping an interview with the president right now. The sit-down is Trump’s first in-depth interview since his party’s historic defeat.

CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss and “60” executive producer Nick Bilton accompanied Douthat to the White House for the taping. If I had to guess, I’d say the network will release a preview clip on the “CBS Evening News” tonight.

Trump, of course, has a long, complex and litigious history with “60.” (I summed it up in this CNN story.) His most recent appearance on the newsmag, one day after the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting in April, turned contentious. He called Norah O‘Donnell a “disgrace” and said, “You’re horrible people.”

But he has also repeatedly praised the owners of CBS this year. Quick reminder here: CBS and CNN are run separately but are both owned by Skydance.
