Norah's CBS Comeback

In May 2019, Norah O’Donnell sat at the CBS This Morning” anchor desk alongside then-co-hosts Gayle King and John Dickerson. At the time, O’Donnell was signing off the program to take over the CBS Evening News” after seven years as a morning host, in what the chyron called “NORAH’S NEXT CHAPTER.”

O’Donnell, of course, spent the following six years anchoring the network’s flagship evening news broadcast, until she was removed in early 2025 and effectively sent to pasture by pre-Paramount-Skydance management. That exile didn’t last long. Since David Ellison installed Bari Weiss as editor in chief, O’Donnell’s fortunes have radically reversed.

O’Donnell, who I’m told has worked to ingratiate herself with Weiss, was given a more prominent role on “60 Minutes,” as Status first reported, with new executive producer Nick Bilton naming her a full-fledged correspondent. She was also tapped to host a new health podcast.
