Karoline Leavitt to step down as White House press secretary

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will leave her post at the end of August, ending an eventful year and a half as President Donald Trump’s chief spokesperson.

Trump announced Leavitt’s departure Wednesday on Truth Social, saying she was leaving to spend more time with her two young children and family. Trump said Leavitt, who at 28 is the youngest person to serve as White House press secretary, will remain one of his “top outside advisors” and an “influential voice” in the Republican Party as it heads toward the midterm elections.
